Whale Watching Adventure Aboard the American Princess

There are few better ways to spend a summer day than out on the open ocean with great friends, incredible wildlife, and a breathtaking sunset to cap it all off. Recently, we had the opportunity to join a whale watching excursion aboard the American Princess out of Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, and it turned into an unforgettable experience. From the moment we left the dock, the crew made everyone feel welcome. Throughout the trip, they shared fascinating information about the marine life we were searching for, along with interesting historical facts about the local waters and coastline. Their knowledge and enthusiasm added another layer of enjoyment to an already exciting day.

Like storm chasing, whale watching always comes with a bit of uncertainty. But the captain was determined to make sure everyone had the best possible experience. Rather than turning back after the standard route, he pushed farther down the New Jersey coastline in search of whales. Thanks to his dedication, the trip stretched well beyond the scheduled three hours and gave everyone a much better opportunity to witness these incredible animals in their natural habitat. The extra effort paid off. Before long, we were treated to the sight of whales, drawing cheers from passengers throughout the boat. Watching these massive creatures emerge from the Ocean is something that never gets old. As if that wasn’t enough, we were also fortunate enough to encounter playful dolphins swimming through the area. Nature continued to put on a show as a beautiful rainbow appeared over the water. Later, as we made our way back toward Brooklyn, the sky exploded with color during an absolutely stunning sunset.

If you’re looking for a unique experience in the New York City area, a whale watching excursion aboard the American Princess is well worth considering. You never know exactly what you’ll see out on the ocean, but on this trip, nature delivered an unforgettable show from start to finish.
