I departed New York City and drove a few hours north on Monday evening to photograph the Aurora Borealis. I did a lot of research using google maps as well as terrain maps to ensure I would be able to photograph the Milky Way as well in case the solar storm failed to happen. Thankfully I was able to achieve both. This road is roughly 1200 feet above the rest of the area and is wide open, something not commonly found in the mountains of New York. I will certainly be returning to this spot again.
